DESCRIPTION:MIG or wire feed welding is a great place to start your welding journey!\n\n\nStudents will learn the basics of MIG/wire feed welding and using a hand-held plasma cutter\, practice both\, and then create a unique piece of their own! We will also have the option of welding a simple bird should you choose to use the outline provided rather than creating your own. \nPlease wear all natural fibers (like cotton; we recommend jeans and a t-shirt/sweatshirt) close-toed shoes\, full length pants\, and no loose/dangly garments or jewelry. We recommend bringing a natural fiber jacket in case you get chilly\, as we may open the door for more ventilation. We also suggest bringing a water bottle! Otherwise\, just bring yourself and be ready to have a good time! \nAge 16+\, under 18 MUST be accompanied by a guardian. \n\n\n\nYour instructor\, Jaime Maginnis\, has years of practice with welding. He enjoys indulging others’ curiousity in metal\, and we are so glad he agreed to teach with us! Our President and Director\, Lucy and Linore\, as well as donor match Mark got to be his guinea pigs to nail down the class flow and it was a blast!

DESCRIPTION:Discover the magic of enameling as you layer bold color onto metal and use stencils to create striking\, one-of-a-kind designs.\n\n\nIn this beginner-friendly workshop\, students will explore the basics of enameling while using stencils to create unique designs on metal. You’ll learn how to apply powdered enamel\, layer colors\, and use firing techniques to permanently fuse vibrant finishes to your piece. \nWe’ll also cover how to use stencils to add pattern\, detail\, and contrast\, giving each piece a personalized\, artistic look. Then you can take your new pieces and turn it into a pendant or earrings\, or both!  \nNo experience is necessary—just come ready to create and experiment with color! \nPlease wear natural fibers\, close-toed shoes\, full length pants\, and have any long hair pulled back. If you would like to bring your own safety glasses you may; otherwise\, we will have extras here. \n*Age 16+ (under 18 MUST be accompanied by a guardian) \n\n\n\nAbout the Instructor\nDon Miller holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from ETSU\, where he first discovered his passion for jewelry making and metalsmithing. He recently completed a one-year residency in the Jewelry and Metalsmithing Department at ETSU and will begin his Master of Fine Arts this fall\, continuing his focused study in jewelry and metals over the next three years. \nDon is a lifelong learner with a strong curiosity that leads him to seek out new skills and teachers wherever he goes. Recently has has taken up blacksmithing becoming one of Brendan Bohannon’s newest apprentices\, and his knifemaking skills are already sharpening into something exceptional. \nComing from humble beginnings\, Don understands the value of opportunity and approaches every chance to learn with dedication and enthusiasm.  His patience and quiet demeaner will guide students to create beautiful things. He is already an inspiration to his peers. DESCRIPTION:Join Ranger Loveless for a hands-on Birdhouse Builders Workshop and create a cozy home for local birds! Participants will learn basic building skills while assembling and decorating their own wooden birdhouse to take home. This fun and family-friendly program is a great way to connect with nature\, get creative\, and learn how birdhouses support local wildlife. \nMeeting place will be at Shelter 5 on Duck Island. All materials will be provided while supplies last. Time will be 9:00am-13:30am.
