DESCRIPTION:Celebrate International Observe the Moon Night with Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium on Saturday\, September 19! International Observe the Moon Night is a worldwide celebration of our closest neighbor in space\, the Moon! Join us to observe the Moon\, learn about its surface\, and discover why it remains such an important part of space exploration for the future. \nActivities will begin inside the Nature Center at 6 p.m. with hands-on Moon and impact crater activities. From 7 – 9 p.m.\, weather permitting\, visitors can head to the Bays Mountain Observatory to view the Moon and its craters up close through our various telescopes. \nIn the unfortunate case that the weather does not cooperate\, join us inside the planetarium theater where we’ll showcase recent photos of the Moon taken during the Artemis II mission. Learn about the different landforms found on the moon (mare) and why exploring the moon is so important to us. \nThis is a free program that does not require registration.

Some may be a little spooky\, some may be funny\, but all will be entertaining! \nHannah is a renowned national storyteller and has a PhD in storytelling. She is an award-winning performer and director. Once you have heard Hannah spin a tale\, you will want more and more! \nOur sponsor for this event is Knoxville TVA Credit Union. They will be onsite both evenings with some great giveaways\, so make sure you stop by their table to thank them and get some cool stuff! \nAdmission to the park is free\, thanks to Knoxville TVA Credit Union.
