SUMMARY:Spring Equinox Yoga in the Planetarium
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a truly immersive yoga class at Bays Mountain! This class takes place inside Bays Mountain’s one of a kind planetarium theater\, creating a truly unique yoga experience. From dawn to dusk\, the planetarium will feature a Sun and Moon that simulates a day’s journey as we move through a series of yoga poses. Concentric\, eccentric and isometric contractions will be incorporated so that students can work to optimize both their strength and balance. Finally\, the class concludes with a starry night sky for a restorative end. \nThis class takes place near the Spring Equinox\, a special time of the year when day and night are nearly equal in length\, marking the seasonal shift into spring. Throughout history\, this time is often seen as a time of renewal\, growth\, and transition. \nAll levels are welcome as modifications will be offered. The cost is $12.00 a person and class size is limited\, so please sign up soon. Please also wear exercise clothing and bring water with a sealable lid (drinks that can spill are not allowed). DESCRIPTION:Gain confidence in your woodworking knowledge\, and leave with a completed cutting board!\n\n\nOur goal for this workshop is to learn safe basic woodworking skills and have fun while doing it! We will go over safe machine usage\, how to select the right woods for your board\, processing the lumber and finally finishing the project so you will have a board to take home and use! By the end of class\, each student will be confident in their abilities to start their woodworking journey. \nPlease wear close-toed shoes\, full length pants\, and no loose/dangly garments or jewelry. \nWe will provide PPE like safety glasses\, dust masks\, etc. but you are welcome to bring your own. Otherwise\, just bring yourself and be ready to have a good time! \nBring a packed Lunch as we will eat half way through during the glue-up. \nAge 16+\, under 18 MUST be accompanied by a guardian. \nThis is part of our “Art for All” grant funded series that helps remove financial barriers to hands-on learning by offering classes at 40–45% less than our regular rates. This program opens the door for more people to build skills\, explore creativity\, and learn in a welcoming makerspace environment—because access to education should be for everyone. \n\n\n\n“Growing up\, my grandfather worked in Eastman Operations but also had a passion for woodworking. One of my cherished gifts from him was a croquet mallet. When I got married\, my husband started learning from my grandfather\, but I gradually realized that this was something I could do\, too. And so I started helping my husband and gradually growing my skills until I could be independently woodworking myself and making the things I wanted to make. DESCRIPTION:Night viewing (StarWatch) is held each Saturday in the months of March\, April\, October & November\, starting at dusk at the observatories. If poor weather\, an alternate live presentation will occur in the planetarium theater. \nIf good weather\, visitors will be able to see celestial objects like the Moon\, planets\, star clusters\, galaxies and more through large telescopes! \nPlease dress for temperatures at least 20 degrees cooler than expected. We ask that visitors do not use white light flashlights to preserve your night vision. Green laser pointers are not allowed. We ask that visitors do not bring their own telescopes. \nThis is a free event and does not require registration.
