Pub Crawl: Your guide to Kingsport’s Best Breweries & Pubs

Tennessee is known as the birthplace of country music and the birthplace of spirits (of the drinking kind that is). It’s Tennessee ingenuity that invented moonshine. And, the best whisky on the planet, Jack Daniels, was born just four hours from Kingsport.

In Kingsport, we have some of the best bars and pubs, breweries, and distilleries in the state (if we do say so ourselves).

Ready to go on a pub crawl? Grab a few friends, or go it alone, and sample some of the best beer, hard ciders, spirits and moonshine that Tennessee has to offer.

BARS AND PUBS

Boogie Mo’s Bar and Grill, 871 W Center St, (423) 398-5931

If you’re in the mood for some good food, a cold beer and a game of pool, head on down to Boogie Mo’s Bar and Grill. Besides great food and drink, Boogie Mo’s has several pool tables and sponsors pool tournaments. You’re in for a good time here. Open Monday through Thursday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Model City Tap House, 324 E Market St, Suite 1, (423) 765-0875

Model City Tap House features craft beer, deli sandwiches and live music. Located in Kingsport’s historic train station, Model City Tap House is open Monday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Saturday noon to 12 a.m. with happy hours Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

CJ’s Sports Bar, 516 Morelock St, (423) 390-1361

Patrons of CJ’s Sports Bar rave about the great staff, music, pool games and conversation to be had here. Of course, there are spirits as well. Open Tuesday through Wednesday from noon to 11 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from noon to 3 a.m.

Wagon Wheel Sports Bar, 405 Cherokee St, (423) 247-5557

The Wagon Wheel Sports Bar is popular among the locals. Multiple generations have frequented this neighborhood bar. It’s a place, much like the Cheers bar from television. It’s friendly and once you become a regular, everybody knows your name. Open daily from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Cocktails, beer, spirits and some truly awesome wings are yours at Buffalo Wild Wings. Open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. with happy hours Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

BREWERIES

Hook and Ladder Distillery, 316 Broad St, Suite 100, (423) 343-9631

They’re making moonshine at the Hook & Ladder Distillery in downtown Kingsport. Head on out to the distillery located between Church Circle and Center Street and grab yourself a jar of award-winning Tennessee moonshine. Come by for a tour and a free tasting of owners Drew and Kenneth Draper’s special recipe. Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Bays Mountain Brewing Company, 154 Commerce Street, Suite 2

With its modern industrial interior and warm wood accents, the Bays Mountain Brewing Company looks exactly like you’d expect a first-class brewing company to look. The taproom serves a variety of beers, stouts and ales and is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Gypsy Circus Cider Company, 2645 Fort Henry Drive

The Gypsy Circus Cider Company is the first craft cidery in the state of Tennessee. Their InCider Taproom serves their award-winning craft cider along with mead, cyser (apple cider mead) and beer. Enjoy bluegrass, country and indie rock music most nights and games, including trivia nights and video games. Open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 pm, Friday 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Sat 1:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
