
Each year, alongside Twilight Alive, the City of Kingsport celebrates Independence Day with Red, White & BOOM, a festive event filled with food trucks, fireworks and free concerts!
This year’s lineup includes rock legends Night Ranger, bluegrass and country acoustic duo Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley and the jamming sounds of Donnie and The Dry Heavers.
Night Ranger is a renowned American hard rock band known for 1980s hits “Sister Christian,” “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” and “When You Close Your Eyes.” Whether you grew up listening to the band or you’re hearing the music for the first time, Night Ranger is guaranteed to deliver a high-energy set that will rock the city.
Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley blend bluegrass and classic country music with talented vocals and masterful instruments. Ickes is a 15-time International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Dobro Player of the Year, while Hensley began performing on the Grand Ole Opry at just 11 years old. Together, the duo brings authentic sounds that have hooked fans of all ages across music genres.
Donnie and The Dry Heavers, originally from the Tri-Cities, brings rhythm, expressive solos, riffs and songwriting to create original sounds for energetic shows. The band is a crowd favorite at festivals and indie stages.
The performances will bring together fans of all ages to enjoy an unforgettable, feel-good night in Downtown Kingsport. Make sure to bring chairs, blankets and patriotic spirit to have fun celebrating Independence Day!

Twilight Alive is one of the most popular concert series in the region and features eight weeks of free live music in the downtown area, which includes Kingsport’s annual Red, White & BOOM celebration.
