In addition to the hand-carved 32 rideable animals and 24 charming creatures weaving throughout the support beams, the carousel is themed with painted scenes from the city’s history and 24 colorful, indigenous birds to pay homage to Kingsport’s recognition as a bird sanctuary. 

The carousel has a small party rental package that starts at $100 and includes two hours of unlimited rides for up to 20 guests, access to a party room that accommodates 20 people and one 8-foot table with 12 chairs. 

Starting at $200, the private rental package includes two hours of unlimited rides for all guests, access to a 50-foot hallway space, the party room, use of on-site tables and chairs and the carousel closing its doors to the public for the private celebration.

Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium 

For an incredibly special experience for any nature and animal lovers, celebrate your kid’s birthday at Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium. The park features a picturesque 44-acre lake, hiking trails, Nature Center with a state-of-the-art Planetarium Theater and animal habitats featuring bobcats, raptors and reptiles. For an adrenalin rush, take your group flying through the forest canopy on a 310-foot zipline and try one of the many adventure courses. 

A popular choice for birthday parties is reserving the theater and attending a planetarium or nature show. Bring any food, cake and decorations you want to deck out the rental space. Tables, chairs and garbage cans will be provided at no extra charge, but the group is responsible for setting up the room. The theater space can be rented for $35 an hour.

Kingsport Aquatic Center 

Make a splash having a birthday party at the region’s most comprehensive indoor-outdoor aquatic facility! With multiple water slides, splash pad, lazy river and climbing structures and play area with water cannons, there will be something for everyone in your group. Partygoers can even go head-to-head in a friendly game of water basketball or volleyball. The facility is equipped with concessions, locker rooms and three rentable party rooms. 

The Splash-tacular party package includes a room rental for two hours, admission for up to 20 guests, and use of indoor and outdoor (if in season) pools and all center amenities for $285. All reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis and are available daily during the periods of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Note that this time must include any setup and cleanup as needed.
