Allandale Mansion is a 5,700 square foot Georgian-style mansion located on 25 acres
of picturesque land and includes two barns, a picnic pavilion, two man-made ponds, the
Heron Dome and a 2,000-square-foot amphitheater. It’s a place unlike any other in the
Tri-Cities.

Built in the early 1950s by Harvey and Ruth Brooks, the mansion was once part of a 500-acre farm where Mr. Brooks raised his championship Black Angus cows and blue-ribbon walking horses.

After Mr. Brooks passed away in 1969, Allandale Mansion was given to the City of Kingsport with a condition of his will being the estate “shall be open to the public and held for public use and benefit.” Today, Allandale Mansion is a part of the city’s civic and social life, being a popular spot for weddings, private parties and business functions. The name Allandale comes from the pairing of the Old English word “dale” meaning “peaceful valley” and the name “Allan” to honor a favorite champion Tennessee Walking Horse of Mrs. Brooks – Roan Allan F-38.

Over the years, the City of Kingsport and the Friends of Allandale organization have
funded improvements, upgrades and renovations both inside the mansion and
throughout the surrounding property.

Hundreds of events are held at Allandale Mansion every year, such as weddings, baby
showers, church gatherings, company picnics, receptions, concerts, family reunions,
retirement celebrations, book clubs and car shows. Special events like the August under
the Stars concert series, Fun Fest Trash Barrel painting and Christmas Tours have been
held at the mansion for years.

The City of Kingsport provides numerous rental opportunities for Allandale Mansion and
its grounds – the mansion itself, Harvey’s Barn and Brooks Pavilion with the rental fees
based on which day of the week the rental takes place.

Another rental option geared towards concerts, performances and even weddings, is
the amphitheater. It has an open flat stage with tiered front steps, a dressing room,
grass lawn seating, access to electrical hook ups and open lawn seating on a gentle
slope.

Finally, you can also rent individual rooms within the mansion for private gatherings in
three to five-hour blocks at $40 an hour. The perfect space for a wedding or baby
shower, book club or birthday party.
