Looking for a fun afternoon in downtown Kingsport? Kingsport is filled with entertaining and exciting things to do and here are some newish places to visit in town! 

Latin Love Kitchen 

This new restaurant serves authentic Salvadorean cuisine which is known for its unique flavors. A mixture of Spanish cuisine and indigenous foods from native groups such as Mayan, Xinca, Lenca, Pogoman, Cacaopera and Pipil, Latin Love Kitchen has scrumptious and versatile offerings. The signature dish is pupusas, thick corn tortillas stuffed with fillings like meat, refried beans, cheese and squash flowers. The restaurant is constantly coming up with new flavors that are sure to have you coming back. The restaurant has only been open a few months and has already won the 2023 Neighborhood Fave Award from Nextdoor and has been nominated as the Best New Restaurant by 2023 Times News Readers’ Choice.

Hudson’s General Store 

As a self-proclaimed old-timey general store, Hudson’s General Store gives customers the chance to find new or antique items for their homes. Browse grocery basics, specialty goods and gifts along with a full selection of antique vendor booths. The store hosted a ribbon cutting Aug. 18, and its building has a deep history in the area and is turning 100 years old. 

The building initially was constructed as a JCPenney department store and still features original ceiling ornamentation and restored hardwood floors. Over the last 60 years, the building has housed The Haggle Shop. Hudson’s General Store owner and Kingsport native Selina Straley restored the location while honoring its authentic history.

King City Distillery 

Crafting some of the finest spirits in the region, King City Distillery uses locally sourced grains and the highest quality of heritage corn to produce its liquor. Stop by during tasting room hours on Thursday and Friday from 6-10:30 p.m. to sample clear, salted caramel, watermelon, cloudy lemon and blackberry liqueur. The distillery also has key lime, butter pecan, red velvet cake and orange dreamsicle creams.

Bubba’s Book Swap 

Bubba’s Book Swap is a locally owned, independent bookstore with a wide selection of discounted fiction, bestsellers, art books, gardening and cookbooks, poetry and much more. The selection is constantly expanding and changing, so check back often! All of the books also are listed on the website and updated hourly.

6ix Grist & Grind Brewhouse 

Something new is brewing in Kingsport! Coming soon, 6ix Grist & Grind Brewhouse will offer craft beer and coffee. With a craft coffee bar, including coffee, espresso and craft energy drinks, the brewhouse anticipates having 16 different drinks on tap. Alcoholic inventory will range from seltzers to sours, and it also will include IPAs, stouts, porters and pilsners. The new location has covered outdoor seating and large windows for patrons to enjoy gazing outside while sipping on their new favorite drinks. Once open and running in late September, the brewhouse plans to host trivia nights, craft and paint parties and cornhole tournaments.

The Crumbum 

Part bakery, part art gallery and part coffeehouse, The Crumbum currently is in its soft opening and invites guests to stop by and grab a treat while perusing the collection of regional art. The new business is a great place to read a book, savor artisan baking and be inspired creatively. Kingsport natives and owners Mitchell and Katie Falconer aim to establish an eclectic space to enrich the days of its guests. With cookies, Danishes, sourdough bread and more always baked fresh, The Crumbum is a shop you do not want to miss.
